A particle situated in a homogenous medium performs a simple harmonic oscillation of amplitude 3 cm and frequency 25 Hz. The velocity of the waves generated is `300cm*s^(-1)`. Find the equation of the waves propagating in the positive direction of x-axis.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Amplitude, A = 3 cm , frequency, n = 25 Hz,
velocity, V = `300cm*s^(-1)`
So, angular velocity, `omega=2pin=2pixx25=50pi`
Hence, equation of the wave along positive x - axis,
`x=Asinomega(t-x/V)or,x=3sin50pi(t-x/300)cm`
