Let AC= 20 m be the wall of a building. A being the window and AB= 25 m be the ladder.
AB = 25 m be the ladder.
In right `triangleABC`
`AB^(2)=BC^(2)+AC^(2)`
(by pythagoras theorem)
`25^(2)= BC^(2)+ 20^(2)`
`625= BC^(2)+400`
` BC^(2) = 225`
BC= 15
The distance of the foot of the ladder from the building = 15 cm.
