Explanation

Physiological Effects:
1. It produces extraordinary elongaion of stem caused by cell division and cell elongation.
2. Rosette plants (genetic dwarfism) plants exhibit excessive internodal growth when they are excessive internodal growth when they are treated with gibberellins. Thi sudden elongation of stem followed by flowering is called bolting.
3. Gibberellin breaks dormancy in patato tubers.
4. Many biennials usually flower during second year of their growth. For flowering to take place, these plants should be exposed to cold season. Such plants could be made to flower without exposure to cold season in the first year itself, when they are treated with gibberellins.
Agricultural role:
1. Formation of seedless fruits without fertilization is induced by gibberellins Example: Seedless tomato, apple and cucumber.
2. It promotes the formation of male flowers in cuurbitaceae. It helps in crop improvement.
3. Unifrom bolting and increased unifrom seed production.
4. Improves number and size of fruits in grapes.
5. Promotes elongation of inter - node in sugarcane without decreasing sugar content.
6. Promotion of flowering in long day plants even under short day conditons.
7. It stimulates seed germination.
