When we remove co factor how could it affect the catalytic activity of enzymes?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Enzymes require non -protein components called co-factors for their efficient activity.
1. When we remove co - factor , the enzyme will no longer work as a catalyst.
2. Eg. Inorganic coins are the type of co-factor.
3. Removal of inorganic coins decrease the rate of reaction catalysed by enzymes.
4. Eg. Salivary amylase activity decreased in absence of chloride coins.
