A problem in mathematics is given to three students `A ,B ,C` and their respective probability of solving the problem is 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4. Probability that the problem is solved is `3//4` b. `1//2` c. `2//3` d. `1//3`

A

`3//4`

B

`1//2`

C

`2//3`

D

`1//3`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

`P(A)=1/2,P(B)=1/3,and P(C)=1/4`
`thereforeP(barA)=1-1/2=1/2,P(barB)=1-1/3=2/3`
`P(barC)=1-1/4=3/4`
Therefore, the required probability is
`1-P(barA)P(barB)P(barC)=1-1/2xx2/3xx3/4=1-1/4=3/4`
