The tropic level an organism is the position it occupies in a food chain. The word trophic derives from a Greek word referring to food or feeding. A food chain represents a succesion of organisms that eat another organism

Each step of food chain is called a trophic level. There are four trophic levels.
1. Trophic level-producers or autotrophs
2. Trophic level-primary consumers-herbivores
3. Trophic level -secondary consumers- small carnivores and large consumers
4. Trophic level-Decomposers
