Colonies of yeast fail to multiply in water, but multiply in a surgar solution

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

when the colony of yeast is in water, it does not get any nutrition as water does not have required nutrients, sugar, on the other hand, provides nutrition for budding. Once the yeast gets nutrition, it grows and beings producing buds. Thus colonies of yeast fail to multiply in water, but multiply in a sugar solution.
