(i) Whate is the role of Sulphur in the vulcanization of rubber ?
(ii) Identify the monomers in the following polymer :

(ii) Arrange the following polymers in the increasing order of their intermolecular forces : Terylene, Polythyene, Neoprene.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) During vulcanization, sulphur bridges or cross links between polymer chains are introduced, which make rubber hard, stronger and remove the tackiness of natural rubber. It improves the elasticity, low water absorption tendency.
(ii) Monomers :
(a) `underset("Ethylene glycol ")(HO-(CH_(2))_(2))-OH`
(b)
(iii) `"Terylene "gt "Polyethene" gt "Neoprene".`
