A train is running at a speed of 72km/h....

A train is running at a speed of 72km/h. It crosses a bridge of length half kilometer in 1 min. Calculate the length of the train.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given Speed of the train (v) = 72kmp h= `72 xx 1000//3600 = 20 ms^(-1)`
Length of bride `=½ km = 500m` …eqn(1)
Time taken by train to cross bridge = 1 min = 60s
Distance travelled by the train in
`60s = 20 xx 60`
=1200m
Length of train `=2-1 = 1200 -500`
= 700m
