Hydrogenation is a chemical reaction between hydrogen and ther compound in the presence of catalyst .Hydrogenation is used mainly to reduce saturated hydroarbons.Hydrogenation is an addition reaction.
For ex:-When ethene is heated with the catalyst Nickel it is reduced to ethane
Industrial application:
Hydrogenation is used in many industrial applications. For ex:In petrochemical industry ,hydrogenation is used to convert alkene into (paraffin) and cycloalkaned.
It is also used to prepare vegetable ghee from vegatable oils.
