On mixing, two colourless solutions of lead nitrate and potassium iodide yellow precipitate is formed.
`Pb(NO_3)_2(aq) + 2KI to PbI_2(s) + 2KNO_3(aq)`
This is an example for a chemical reaction (double displacement) in which formation of precipitate is observed.
