In species variations that offer survival advantage are naturally selected Individuals adjust to their environment with the help of those selected are passed on their progency. Evolution oforganism occurs as a result ofthis natural selection. However, there can be some other variations, which do not offer any survival advant​ag​e of some genes even if they are not important for survival. This accidental change in the frequency of gene in small population is referred to as genetic drift, Thus, genetic drift provides diversity without any survival advantage
