Calculate the molarity of a solution con...

Calculate the molarity of a solution containing 5g of Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) in 450 ml solution.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Moles of NaOH =` (5 g)/(40 "g mol"^(-1)) = 0.125 ` mol
Volume of the solution in litres = 450 mL / 1000 mL `L^(-1)`
Molarity = ` (0.125 mol xx 1000 "mL L"^(-1))/(450 L ) = 0.278 M `
` = 0.278 " mol L"^(-1)`
` = 0.278 " mol " dm^(-3)`
