Why are lysosomes also known as scavengers of the cells?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Lysosomes also remove the dead cells and debris that accumulate at the sites of injury by digesting them and, thus, make a way for their replacements. They are, thus, also called natural scavengers and cellular hosekeppers.
