Write these similarities and three dissimilarities between ligaments and tendons.

Similarties
(i) Both ligaments and tendons are dense regular connective tissues found in animals.
(ii) Both ligaments and tendons consist of ordered and densely packed fibres and cells. The cells are called fibroblasts.
(iii) In both ligaments and tendons ,the fibres form bound together by areolar tissue.
Dissimilarities
(i) Ligaments are cords formed by yellow elastin fibres in which many collagen fibres are bound which tendons are cord-like bundles of white collagen fibres bound together.
(ii) Ligaments have strength with great elesticity whereas tendons are very tough and inelastic .
(iii) In ligaments , fibroblast cells are irregularly scattered in matrix while in tendons, elongated fibroblasts (form almost continous rows in between the fibres.
(iv) Ligaments serve to join bones together while tendons connect the skeletal muscles with the bones.
