(a) (i) Collenchyma has thin-walled cells but possess thickening of cellulose and pectic substance at the corners where number of cells join together.
(ii) The cells of collenchyma are compact and intercellular spaces are absent.
(b) It provides flexibility , mechanical supprt and elasticity to soft aerial parts (e.g., leaves, young stems) of plants so that they can bend without breaking .
