Two metallic spheres of radii a and b ...

Two metallic spheres of radii a and b are placed faraway from each other and are connected for a thin conducting wire. A charge Q is given to one of the spheres . Calculate the charge on each sphere at electrostatic equilibrium.

Let `q_(1) and q_(2)` are the charges at electrostatic equilibrium.
at this state, the potential of the sphere are same,
`rArr (q_(1))/(4 pi epsilon_(0)a) = (q_(2))/(4 pi epsilon_(0)b)`
`rArr " " (q_(1))/(q_(2)) = (a)/(b)" " `...(i)
Also, Q = `q_(1) + q_(2) " " ... `(ii)
`rArr " " q_(1) (Qa)/((a + b)) q_(2) = (Qb)/((a + b))`
