Find the arithmetic mean of the observat...

Find the arithmetic mean of the observations `x + 5, x + 6, x + 10, x + 11, x + 14, x + 20` (where `x` is any real number).

A

`x + 11`

B

`x + 5`

C

`x + 13`

D

`x + 7`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

`"AM" = ("Sum of all observations")/("Total number of observations")`
`=(x + 5+ x + 6 + x + 10 + x + 11 + x + 14 + x + 20)/(6)`
`=(6x + 66)/(6) = (6(x + 11))/(6) = x + 11`.
