0.6 g of a metal gives on oxidation 1 g ...

0.6 g of a metal gives on oxidation 1 g of its oxide. Calculate its equivalent mass.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Mass of metal = 0.6
Mass of metal oxide = 1 g
`:.` Mass of oxygen = 1 - 0.6 = 0.4 g
0.4 g of oxygen combines with 0.6 g of metal
`:.` 8 g of oxygen will combine with `0.6/0.4 xx 8`
Equivalent mass of the metal = 12 g `eq^(-1)` .
