Why noble gases do not show much of chemical reactivity?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Noble gases having closed valence shell configuration as `ns^(2) np^(6)`. The valence shell orbitals of noble gases are completely filled by electrons and it is very difficult to alter this stable arrangement by the addition or removal of electrons. Because of these reasons noble gases do not show much of chemical reactivity.
