In a village, 40% of the population comrises of children below 14 years of age. If the ratio of number of men to the number of women is 2:1, then find the number of women in that village, given that the total population of the village is 5000.

`"Population of children " = (40)/(100) xx 5000 = 2000`
Rest of the population = 3000
Let the number of men and women be 2k and k, respectively.
`therefore 3k = 3000 rArr k = 1000`
`therefore " Number of women " = 1000`
