The correct Answer is:

Let the total distance travelled be x km.
Given that `(4x)/(9) + (x)/(3) + 6 =x`
`(4x + 3x + 54)/(9) =x`
`7x + 54 = 9x`
`54 = 2x`
`x = 27`
`:.` Distance travelled by bus `= (4)/(9) x = (4)/(9) xx 27 = 12 km`
Hence, the correct option is (a)
