Though phosphorus acid contains three hydrogens, it is a dibasic acid. Give reasons.

Formula of phosphorous acid `H_(3)PO_(3)* H_(3)PO_(3)` on dissolution in water produces only two `H^(+)` ions. Only these two hydrogens are replaceable and the other hydrogen is non-replaceagle. Hence it is a dibasic acid.
