Let `W_(1),W_(2) " and" W_(3)` be the weight of the body in air, water and liquid, respectively.
`W_(3)=16N, W_(2)=x`(to be determined)
`W_(1)=40 N`
Specific gravity of the liquid =6
`implies (W_(1)-W_(3))/(W_(1)-W_(2))=6 implies (40-16)/(40-x)=6`
`implies x=36`N. Thus, weight of the body in water is 36 N.
