The depth of immersion of hydrometer in ...

The depth of immersion of hydrometer in water is 10 cm. What will be the depth of immersion in a liquid whose density is `2 g cm^(-3) `?

Relative density is equal in magnitude to the density of substance in c.g.s. system.
`therefore` R.D. of a given liquid=density of liquid in c.g.s. system.
R.D.=2
`R.D.=(h_(w))/(h_(l))`
`2=(10cm)/(h_(l))`
`therefore h_(l)=5 cm`.
