Ram used a crowbar of length 1.5 m as a `II^(nd)` order lever to displace a heavy sphere placed on the horizonat surface. If the crowbar applies a force of 240 N on the sphere at a distance of 100 cm from effort, then find the minimum effort applied by Ram to displace it.

The correct Answer is:
80 N

Crowbar act as IInd order lever as shown below:

To apply minimum effort should be applied at the top of the crowbar as shown in the figure, then
Effort arm = Length of the crowbar = 1.5 m = 150 cm
Load arm = 150 cm-100 cm = 50 cm
`MA=("Effort arm")/("Load arm")=(150)/(50)=3`
`E=(L)/(MA)=(240)/(3)=80`
Minimum effort = 80 N
