Two liquids A and B when mixed together formed two layers. Liquid C when added to B also formed two layers. However, A and C when mixed formed a single layer and also with water. How do you account for this?

As A and B when mixed together formed two layers, A and B are immiscible liquids Similarly, B and C are also immicible liquids As A and C formed a single layer on mixing, they are mischible liquids. As they formed a single laeyr with water, A and C are muscible with water while B is an oily liquid as it is immiscible with A and C, and hence with water.
