Some ice cubes are kept in a beaker and a ther- mometer is placed in it. What could be the change in temperature observed in the thermometer? Justify?

The temperature in the thermometer remains unaltered until the entire ice melts. The heat absorbed from the surroundings is utilized for the conversion of solid state to liquid state by over- coming intermolecular forces of attraction.
