After the process of pollination and fertilization, post fertilization changes take place in the flower. Ovary develops into fruit and ovules to seeds. Seeds are the products of ripened ovule. Seeds contain two cotyledons or a single cotyledon as in cereals which help in providing food to the embryo (baby plane). These cotyledons are enclosed within the seed coat which also acts as a protective layer. On germination, seeds give rise to new baby plant.
