When a plant is watered, only 5 percent of the water is absorbed by the plant. Excess of water is released in the form of water vapour on the leaves and the process is called transpiration. The transpiration process helps in movement of nutrient. It causes cooling effect to the plant, when the pores close and open, the exchange of gases take place. Hence, transpiration is considered a vital process.
