Leaves of certain plants are modified to catch insects.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Plants that grow in nitrogen deficient soil require extra nitrogen for its growth and development. The leaves of such plants are modified into bladder-like structures called pitcher which helps in trapping insects. The insects trapped are digested by plants to compensate the lack of nitrogen. These plants are also called carnivorous plants.
