Prior to sowing of the crop seeds, many leguminous and non-leguminous crops are grown in the field. They are then mulched by ploughing while they are still young and green. This practice is used to enrich soil in nitrogen and phosphorus. Example. Sunn hemp, Cow pea, Barseem etc.
