Chlorobenzene is extremely less reactive towards nucleophilic substitution reaction. Give two reasons for the same.

(i) Resonance effect : Due to resonance C-CL baond get a partial double bond character hence difficult for the nucleophile to cleave the C-Cl bond.

(ii) Increased electron density : A repulsion is suffered by the nucleophicle due toincrease electron density on the benzone ring which prolibits the nucleophile to attacle.
