Describe what do you understand by the primary and secondary structures of proteins.

Primary Structure: The specific sequence in which the various `alpha` - amion acids present in a protein are linked to one another is called primary structure.
Secondary Structure : It refers to the shap in which a long polypeptide chain can exist. They are found to exist in two different types of structures, viz. `alpha-"helix" and beta-"pleated'` sheet structure. These structures arise due to the regular folding of the backbone of the polypeptide chain
due to hydrogen binding between `-overset(O)overset(||)C-`groups of the peptide bond.
