In a typical nucleus, some regions of chromatin are stained light and others dark. Explain why is it so and what is its significane ?

In a typical nucleus, some regions of chromatin are stained light because of loose packing of chromatin, and some regions of chromatin are stained dark because herein, chromatin is densely packed. Euchromatin is transcriptionally active chromatin and heterochromatin is inactive.
