In a dicot plant one male gamete fuses with egg cell and completes syngamy. This results in the formation of a diploid cell, the Zygote . The Zygote given rise to the proembryo and later globular, heart shaped and mature embryo. A dicot embryo consiste of embryonal axis and two cotyledons . The portion of embryonal axis above the cotyledons is the epicotyl and it terminates with the Plumule or stem tip . The portion below the level of cotyledons is the hypocotyl that ends in the radicle or root tip. The root tip is covered with a root cap .
