`P_(4) + 3 NaOH + 3H_(2)O rarr PH_(3) + underset(("sodium hypophosphite"))(3 NaH_(2) PO_(2)), 4Cu^(2) + PH_(3) + 4H_(2)O rarr H_(3) PO_(4) + 4Cu darr + 8H^(+)` sodium hypophosphite also acts as a strong reducing agent and reduce copper sulphate to `Cu_(2)H_(2)`
