Bond angle in `PH_(4)^(+)` is higher than that in `PH_(3)`.Why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In `PH_(4^(+))` phosphoros undergo `sp^(3)` hybridization, but in `PH_(3)` phosphoros uses p-orbitals for bonding. Hence bond angle in `PH_(3)` is nearly `90^(º)`
