Formation of deltas : The river water contains colloidal particles of sand and clay which carry negative charge. The sea water contains +ve ions such as `Na^(+), Mg^(2+), Ca^(2+)`, etc. As the river warer meets sea water, these ions discharge the sand or clay paerticle which are precipitated in the form of delta.
