When 5g of calcium is burnt in 2g of oxygen, then 7 g of calcium oxide is produced. What mass of calcium oxide will be produced when 50g of calcium is burnt in 20 g of oxygen ? Which law of chemical combination will govern your answer ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In both the cases, the mass of calcium burnt = 5.0g
The mass of oxygen taking part in the
reaction will be the same in the both the cases = 2.0g
(oxygen in second case in in excess)
The mass of calcium oxide formed will also be the same in both the case = 7.0g
This is according to the Law of Constant Proportions.
