(a) Avogadro's number is the number of particles (atoms, ions, molecules etc) present in one mole of any substance. It is denoted either as `N_(A)` or as No. The number is also called Avogadro's constant because its value is fixed `(6.022 xx 10^(23))` irrespective of the nature of the particles.
(b) `"Molar mass of "Na_(2)O= 2 xx "Atomic mass of Na"+"Atomic mass of O"=2 xx 23u+16u =62u`
(c )Mass of 10 moles of `CO_(2)=10xx44=440u`

Define molar mass. How will you calculate the molar mass of (i) H_(2)SO_(4) (ii) Na_(2)CO_(3) ?

Gold (Au) is a precious metal used mainly in jewelry. What is the mass in grams of one AU atoms ? Strategy : We expect that the mass of a single Au atoms in grams would be very small number. The atomic mass of Au is 197.97 u . Thus, its molar mass is 196.97g. Because each mode of a substance contains Avogadro's number of units of that substance contains. Avogadro's number of units of that substance dividing the mass of the substance in one mole (molar mas) by Avogadro's constant gives the mass of that unit of substnace.

If Avogadro's number (N_(A)) is changed from 6.022 xx 10^(23) mol^(-1) to 6.022 xx 10^(20) mol^(-1) , what will be mass of 1 mole of carbon atoms ?
