A beaker filled with water at `4 .^(@)C` over flows if the temperature of water increases or decreases. Explain why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The reason behind this is anomalous expansion of water. The density of water is maximum at `4^@C`. Therefore, water will expand when heated above this temperature or cooled below it
