What is the net flux of the uniform electric field of Exercise 1.15 through a cube of side 20 cm oriented so that its faces are parallel to the coordinate planes?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Four faces of the cube will be parallel to the electric field intensity, which means that the electric flux linked with these four faces will be zero. The electric lines are perpendicular to the rest of the two faces. But electric lines are entering through one face and leaving from the other. The value of the electric flux linked with one face is positive and with the other it is negative with the same magnitude. Thus the total flux linked with the cube remains zero.
