Two large this metal plates are parallel...

Two large this metal plates are parallel and close to each other. On their inner faces, the plates have surface charge densities of opposite signs and magnitude `17.0xx10^(-22) C//m^(2)`. What is `vec(E)` : in the outer region of the first plate. (b) in the outer region of the secound plate, and (c) between the plates ? See Fig.

The magnitude of the electric field intensity due to both the surfaces will be the same and can be written as follows :
`E^(+)=E^(-)=sigma/(2epsilon_0)=(17xx10^(-22))/(2xx8.85xx10^(-12))`
`=0.96xx10^(-10)` N/C
(a)In the outer region of the first plate, both the fields are opposite in direction, hence the net field will be zero.

(b) In the outer region of the second plate, both the fields are opposite in direction, hence the net field will be zero.
(c) In between the two plates, both the electric field intensities will be added because both are in the same direction.
Net field `E=2xx0.96xx10^(-10)=1.92xx10^(-10)` N/C
