A certain region of space is to be shielded from magnetic fields. Suggest a method.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

This can be achieved by surrounding the region by soft iron rings. Magnetic field lines will be drawn into the rings, and as a result the enclosed space will be free from the magnetic field. But this shielding is only approximate as compared to the perfect electric shielding of a cavity in a conductor placed in an external electric field.
