Can we use copper box to protect something from variable magnetic field?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Yes we can use copper box to protect anything from variable magnetic field as it has very low resistivity and hence eddy currents can easily flow through it. If we change magnetic field outside the copper box all of a sudden then eddy currents try to neutralize the effect by inducing eddy currents in it. Thus, region inside the box remains protected from the variation of magnetic field.
