A lamp in a circuit consisting of a coil of large number of truns and a battery does not ligth upto full brilliance instantly on switching on the circuit ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

As the lamp is switched on, the amount of current through the coil increases. Due to self-inductance an emf is induced in the coil in opposite direction to oppose this change in the current. Thus it takes some time for current in the circuit to reach its maximum value and glow brightly.
