A current-carrying infinitely long wire ...

A current-carrying infinitely long wire is kept along the diameter of a circular wire loop, without touching it. The correct statement(s) is (are)

A

The emf induced in the loop is zero if the current is constant.

B

The emf induced in the loop is finite if the current is constant.

C

The emf induced in the loop is zero if the current decreases at a steady rate.

D

The emf induction in the loop is finite if the current decreases at a steady rate.

The correct Answer is:
A, C

We can see that magnetic field due to wire on one half of the loop is opposite and same in magnitude as that on the other half as shown in figure. Hence net magnetic flux due to wire on the loop will remain zero. Hence net induced emf in the coil will remain zero even if the current in it changes or it remains constant. Hence both options (a) and (c) must be correct.
