Due to the earth's magnetic field, charged cosmic ray particles

A

can never reach poles

B

can never reach equator

C

require greater energy to reach equator than to poles

D

require less energy to reach to poles than to equator.

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
B

Earth is surrounded by Earth.s magnetosphere and its magnetic field lines originate from the South Pole and terminate at the North Pole. Cosmic rays are not able to penetrate the magnetosphere layer, that is why they can never reach the equator but get slightly accumulated at the poles where magnetic field barrier is weak.
