Ultraviolet light is incident on two photosensitive materials having work function `W_(1)` and `W_(2) (W_(1) gt W_(2))`. In which case will the kintic enrgy of the emitted electrons be greater? Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

As kinetic energy = hv - W
Greater the work function , less will be the kinetic energy of emitted electrons . The electron emitted from the material having work function `W_1` will have more kinetic energy.
